Metal-Smith Sand Casting Class $295 6 hrs
Sand casting is one of the oldest known casting processes and can be traced back to the Bronze Age in China in around 2000 B.C.E. This metal casting method is one of the most versatile and widely used approaches. In this technique moist sand is tightly pressed around a model which is then removed, leaving a mold cavity to be filled with molten metal. This method has been used by many cultures for many centuries and is still relevant today.
During class students will work with the sand to make a mold of an item of their choosing. Items need to be under 2.5” and you will have 28 grams of Sliver to complete one large cast or multiple small ones. Additional Sliver or bronze can be purchase by students during class at an additional cost.
Professional grade tools and equipment are all provided for the student to complete their casting. All safety gear is provided but students are asked to bring their own M95 mask.
